Activate a new Kiri Bridge.

Use this guide when you just received the device and it blinks blue after power-on. You will put it on WiFi, open its local portal, install the production firmware, and pair it with Apple Home.

new kit 15-30 minutes chrome / edge 2.4 GHz WiFi

Before you start

  • Use Chrome or Edge. Safari does not support the required Web Bluetooth and Web Serial features.
  • Use a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. ESP32 devices cannot join 5 GHz-only networks.
  • Keep the Kiri Bridge close to your computer or phone during Bluetooth setup.
  • Download the latest production kiri_bridge_... .kiri file from GitHub Releases before you start the OTA step.
Do not worry if you see an installer page first. New devices may ship with installer firmware. The installer gets the device online, then helps you install the final Kiri Bridge firmware.

1. Power the device

  1. Plug the Kiri Bridge into USB power, or plug it into the Mitsubishi indoor unit's CN105 port.
  2. Wait about 10-20 seconds for startup.
  3. Confirm the LED is blinking blue quickly. That means Bluetooth setup mode is active.

If you do not see blue blinking

  • Unplug and plug it back in once.
  • If it is already installed inside the indoor unit, press the side reset button once and wait again.
  • If the device never blinks blue, use the recovery guide to re-flash the installer.

2. Send WiFi over Bluetooth

  1. Open WiFi setup.
  2. Click LED is blinking blue.
  3. Click Open BLE picker.
  4. Choose the device named PROV_KIRI_.... If more than one appears, pick the one closest to you.
  5. Enter your WiFi name and password. The password is visible on purpose so you can catch typos.
  6. Click Send credentials and wait for the success message.
Success looks like this: the page shows an IP address and an access portal link such as http://192.168.1.42:8080/.

3. Open the local portal

  1. Click the access portal link shown after WiFi setup.
  2. If the link does not open, copy the IP address into Chrome or Edge manually and add :8080 at the end.
  3. You should see the Kiri installer or Kiri Bridge web UI.

If the portal does not open

  • Make sure your computer or phone is on the same WiFi network you sent to Kiri Bridge.
  • Wait 20 seconds and refresh the page.
  • Power-cycle the Kiri Bridge and try the same IP again.
  • If the IP changed, repeat Bluetooth WiFi setup and use the new portal link.

4. Install production firmware

  1. On the local portal, find the OTA or firmware update section.
  2. Choose the latest kiri_bridge_... .kiri file from GitHub Releases.
  3. Upload it and wait for the confirmation dialog.
  4. Confirm the update and let the device reboot.
  5. Wait about 30 seconds, then reopen the portal at the same http://IP:8080/ address.
Use the .kiri file, not a .bin file. The .kiri package contains metadata that helps the device reject the wrong firmware.

5. Pair with Apple Home

  1. Open the Kiri Bridge portal after production firmware boots.
  2. Find the HomeKit section and display the pairing code or QR code.
  3. On iPhone, open the Home app, tap +, then Add Accessory.
  4. Scan the QR code or enter the pairing code manually.
  5. Give the accessory a room and name in Apple Home.
